National Summit on Paid Sick Days
This week, hundreds of activists and allies joined together in Washington, DC to advocate for paid sick days for workers. Sponsored by the National Partnership for Women & Families and Family Values @ Work, the summit brought passionate leaders to the forefront of our cause, developing effective strategies and strengthening the movement towards a healthier society with fair and just working practices.
Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi and Senator Harkin of Iowa were two of the political faces present at the summit, speaking on the importance of paid sick leave and basic human rights. Said Harkin, “No American man or woman should have to choose between the job they need and the family they love”.
The Paid Sick Days for All campaign would like to thank the speakers, advocates, workers, and eager learners who attended the summit and are committed to making a difference. Paid sick days can strengthen families and the economy- they can reduce unemployment, improve public health, and stabilize financial security of America’s hard-working families.
