EJC Advocacy Manager Ari Weisbard was quoted in today’s Washington Post’s Capital Business Section on the economic advantages of Maryland raising its minimum wage: “Low-wage workers, more than anyone else, when they get a raise, they spend it.” The article mentioned business group talking points on the issue, but revealed that the best studies of neighboring jurisdictions with different minimum wage rates show that minimum wage hikes help workers with no detrimental effect on employment rates.
