EJC Welcomes New Legal Director, LaToya Bell
LaToya Bell joined EJC as the Legal Director in August 2016. Prior to joining the EJC team, LaToya developed extensive and invaluable criminal litigation experience as an Assistant Public Defender with the Maryland Office of the Public Defender. During her four years with OPD, LaToya delivered solid legal representation to the under-served communities on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.
In addition to criminal defense work, LaToya has experience working with prison litigation as a former paralegal of the General Counsel for D.C. Department of Correction as well as immigration law through her volunteer work with CAIR Coalition. Additionally, LaToya frequently conducts “Knowing Your Rights” presentation with the ACLU of Maryland.
LaToya received her B.A. in Administration of Justice from Howard University and her J.D. from the Thurgood Marshall School of Law. LaToya is licensed to practice in Kentucky, D.C. and Maryland.
